Chicago is one of my favorite places to travel to. I am a city girl through and through, but also it’s just so close to Indy how could I not go and explore. I was able to go last year after the end of my fall semester and before Christmas, and I absolutely LOVED it. I loved the hustle and bustle of just the Holiday season in the city, but also getting to do most of my Christmas shopping. And this year, I was blessed to be able to return and make some more memories and explore more of the city that I am falling more and more in LOVE with every year!

One thing that I did this year over the other times I’ve come to the city is I made sure I didn’t just dress to be cute, but also for comfort! I mean with all the walking I do, I gotta choose comfort over everything. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still be cute! Right?! YES!

Strings was AMAZING! Little did I know it’s was voted the best ramen restaurant in Chicago AND in the top 24 in America. And it was well deserved. It has two locations, one in Chinatown and the other in Lakeview near Wrigley Field. I love ramen, but it’s not something that I order at restaurant so I wasn’t really sure what to order. But they were so nice and I ordered what they recommended. It was sooo delicious.

I love just walking around the city and just taking in all the views of the buildings and all the people. Most people would say to go in the summer, but I think it’s pretty all year round! It was really foggy this time. It was crazy how the buildings would just disappear into the clouds.

Goddess and the Baker was actually an accident. I just stumbled upon this cute little place. and I am so glad did. The aesthetic is on point. And the Food is good too! Actually I thought the food was very good. Of course, I ordered the avocado toast because I’m basic like that. But you like what you like. My only complaint is that there was too much arugula on the toast. To which I just moved it to the side and went on my merry way. The latte was also very superb. Good food and good coffee at the same place are hard to come by. But Goddess and the Baker hit the mark! I will be going back every year.

I really enjoy going on the subway. I turn into a kid at an amusement park, no joke! I wish it was something Indy had, but since they don’t I look forward to it EVERY year in Chicago. I’m definitely an amateur at it though. Ha it took me probably almost 5 minutes to get the gate open. I should have been embarrassed, but I just couldn’t stop laughing at everyone trying to get around me.

Truth be told, I actually hate burgers. But after a long day of walking around the city, I always crave something greasy and fries are my just my favorite. So I always end up going to Shake Shack at the end of the day. Nothing better than comfort food, am I right?

I always have such a great time in Chicago. Not saying everything goes perfectly though. Because it’s usually the total opposite. It’s more like nothing ever happens according to plan. It can be really hard for me to live in the moment because I am a HUGE planner and probably a little too controlling. That being said, a trip always includes a moment where I lose control and realize that I am not actually living.

I focus so much on getting things perfect and having the best time that I don’t always actually have the best time. But it’s all about balance. I have these moments and I am quickly snapped back into reality. Life is filled with good, bad and ugly moments and I just have to remember that.

Lessons can be learned in every moment of life. So this Holiday season, don’t stress when things don’t go perfectly. Just ENJOY life. Every little bit of it.
